Infrastructure

■ SND provides high standard infrastructures. All recommended sites and buildings have access to roads, power, water, gas, sewage treatment, drainage, telephone, and cable communication.

Power

■Power is distributed within the Eastern China Power Grid, the largest power network in China. SND has 16 substations with a total capacity of 2,457,500 KVA, including four 220KV with 1,410,000 KVA, twelve 110KV with 981,500 KVA, and two 35KV with 66,000 KVA.

■ Voltage grade: 10KV, 35KV, 110KV, 220KV

■ Reliability: 99.9%. Wave: ±5%. Frequency: 50 HZ.

Water

■ Water is sourced from Lake Taihu.

■ Total capacity: two water plants with a total capacity of 300,000m3 per day.

   Plant 1: 150, 000m3 per day, full capacity 300,000m3 per day;

   Plant 2: 150, 000m3 per day, full capacity 500,000m3 ~ 600,000 m3 per day;

■ Pipe diameters: φ200mm, φ1,200mm1,400mm, φ1,800mm2,200mm, connected to the  boundary of recommended sites.

■ Outlet pressure: ≥ 0.2 Mpa.

Gas

■ Natural gasheat value is 8500 kcal/m3 and outlet pressure is 0.15 Mpa,

■ Natural gas capacity: 380 million m3

■ Industrial gasesoxygen, nitrogen, etc..

Telecom

■ A  wide  range of  high speed Internet connection services, such as wideband, multi-media, virtual  small PBX,  ISDN,  DDN,   T1 and  T3, ADSL, is available in SND. Companies can apply for installation of satellite receivers.

Drainage, Sewage and Solid Waste Treatment

■ Rain water and sewage are discharged separately. SND has five sewage treatment plants with a daily treatment capacity of 240,000 tons. One of them treats 80,000 tons/day, while each of the other four treats 40,000 tons/day.

■ Solid wastes treatment can be subcontracted by certified companies.

Factory Buildings

■ Investors can either buy or lease a ready-made factory building. SND can purpose-build based on investors’ requirements.

Land

■ Most of Suzhou is alluvial plain.  The west of the Great Suzhou Area has higher elevation than the east.

■ SND’s land is unique, consisted of both rocky hills and flat plains.

■ SND has a good advantage for construction.  Its land is 4.48 ~5.20 meters above sea level (benchmark - Shanghai Wusong) and average soil loading capacity is more than 20 tons/sqm.

Normal construction does not require piling or foundation strengthening or special anti-earthquake measures in SND.

Logistics

■ SND is the one of the first “Export Processing Base of Hi-tech Products” entitled by the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Science and Technology.  It has a Class B Inland Customs Port  and a special agency to coordinate between companies and import/export approvals. (Notes: Class A Inland Customs Port refers to a port that can use sea and river for transportation, while Class B Inland Customs Port refers to a port that cannot.)

Supply Chains and Encouraged Industries

■ SND has four major hi-tech industries, IT, precision machinery, biopharmaceuticals and fine chemicals.  Major local supply chains include computer, telecom products and automotive components.

● SND encourages investment in industries that follow China’s National Guidelines and environmental policies, especially companies that are hi-tech, highly potential, innovative while consuming relatively less energy and resources and having low impact on environment.

● SND encourages existing companies to expand its research and trading functions, especially those who are willing to set up regional headquarters.

● SND encourages both Chinese and foreign research institutions, software developing companies and BPO to locate in the area, by providing preferential incentives and first-class facilities in Suzhou Technopolis and the Pioneering Service Park for Returned Overseas Chinese.

● SND encourages investment in service-related industries, including 1) industrial supports – logistics, warehousing, distribution, transportation, certification, management consulting, production training and industrial design; 2) living amenities – catering service, hypermarket, shopping mall, retail, fitness center, entertainment facility, theme park, hotel, inn; 3) public services – school, hospital, library, cinema, exhibition center.
